Wall Reliefs, Sculpture, Installations
Kaplan’s colorful, mystical and poetic assemblages combine metals and stones with a wide range of mixed media, including shells, bones, glass and a surprising variety of found objects.
Figurative imagery is a predominant feature in Kaplan’s sculptures and
wall reliefs, which she often referred to as “wall brooches” or “earrings for buildings”. Utilizing metalworking techniques in bronze, brass and copper that emphasize texture, patina and subtle detail, Kaplan incorporated non-traditional approaches and mixed-media to her larger scale works.
